Bethan's Blog: Let’s talk about Phantasia!
In January, February and March we did lots of rehearsals for Phantasia. We started rehearsing at Brixton House and then moved to The Place where we rehearsed both Mannequins and Daises. It was good, the props looked beautiful in the background, and then we had Matt, the musician, with us in the room doing the music for the show, he was brilliant!
Looking back, we had to do separate rehearsals for Mannequins and Daises, so we got chance to have a rest in between.
Our costume designer called Jacob Elliot delivered all the costumes for Mannequins and Daises; We had our costume fitted and it was simply perfect for the show!
On another day we went to look at the theatre and it was nice! We did the tech run and then we did the lighting with the cues of the show. The actual show day was a long day, we had all the cast including Kick up, Mannequins and Daises getting ready and having breaks. Then we did the dress run, that was good, the costumes were good and we had Marianne for the warm up before the show.
It was stressful and tiring, I was stressed during rehearsals, the performance and after, but I enjoyed the show. It was brilliant, everyone was amazing! I liked all the props, the lighting and the music.
One of my favourite moments was watching Mannequins in the audience, they were amazing and my best bit was my solo in Daisies, I really loved it so much!
I thought Matt was brilliant, I liked his music, my favourite part was his adaptation of Love is Blue by Claudine Longet, it was heartfelt and passionate.
I would like to perform Phantasia again in different places. And in the future, I would like to do rural tour of Phantasia.
My quote for Phantasia show is:
“Being part of the team, being together, supporting each other, that’s what counts.”
