CHALLENGE #2 - OBJECT AND DANCE - PART 2
Our Associate Artistic Director Bridget Chew has made a challenge for you which will get you creating and exploring shadows in a fun way!

Task 1: Find your 4 objects you used to create your dance for Challenge 2 Part 1
Task 2: Now we want to create a white background to place your objects on.
Bridget used an old cardboard box and covered it with paper. Or you could place some white paper against a wall.
Task 3: Find a simple light source for example, a torch, a desk lamp, a bicycle light or the torch on a mobile phone.
Task 4: Place one object onto the paper background and shine the light source onto the object. You might need to make your room a little dark to get the best effect.
Watch how the shadow of your object changes as you move the light.
Try moving your light far away from the object and then bring it close up.
Try moving your light around your object to create new shadow shapes.
Task 5: Do task 4 with each of your objects one by one and then try putting two or more objects together to build interesting shadowy shapes. You can see in the video below how Bridget plays with the shadows cast from her objects.
Task 6: Take some photographs of your shadows or try and draw the shadows on your paper. Save these drawings and photographs for the next part of the creative challenge. We have shown you an example of Bridget drawing her shadow reflections below…
